Six reasons clients choose this studio.
Involvement, Not Just Delivery
Clients are consulted throughout the project. What happens to your piece is something you understand and have agreed to, not something discovered after the fact.
Geometry-Faithful Refinishing
We restore surfaces to match the manufacturer's original finish intent — not the quickest or most uniform result, but the correct one for the specific case design.
Scope in Writing
All projects begin with documented agreement. There are no oral understandings or assumed inclusions. The scope, price, and timeline are set out clearly before work starts.
Realistic Scheduling
Timelines are honest estimates based on actual workload and component complexity. We do not make commitments we cannot meet, and we communicate when anything changes.
Component Flexibility
We work with what clients bring — movements, cases, dials, and hands from various origins. You are not required to use our components or follow a fixed kit approach.
Post-Work Summary
Every completed project is returned with written notes on what was done, what was observed, and any care recommendations relevant to the specific piece and its components.
Expertise and Knowledge
The studio draws on experience with Swiss and Japanese movements across a range of calibres — from mass-produced blanks through to more unusual or older configurations. This breadth means we rarely encounter a movement that presents a completely unfamiliar challenge.
- Familiarity with multiple movement generations and makers
- Experience with both modern and vintage case formats
- Understanding of surface finishing across different material types
Process and Method
Each project follows a structured flow: initial consultation and scope agreement, component review, staged work with check-ins, settlement period for assembled pieces, and final handover with documentation. No stage is skipped because a previous one went smoothly.
- Consistent process regardless of project scale
- Client-facing milestones and communication at transitions
- Post-assembly running period before handover
Client Communication
We treat client enquiries and updates as a core part of the work, not an interruption. Responses are considered and honest. If something is not going as planned, we say so — before the client needs to ask.
- Direct contact with the person doing the work
- Proactive updates when timelines or scope change
- In-person appointments available at the Jalan Kia Peng studio
Value and Transparency
Pricing is agreed in writing before work begins. No additional charges arise without prior discussion and client agreement. The cost of labour is clearly separated from any component costs in project documentation.
- Fixed service pricing for standard scope
- No hidden charges or assumed extras
- Separate labour and parts documentation
Outcomes and Results
The studio's measure of success is simple: does the piece perform and present as the client hoped, and has nothing been done to it that they did not expect or agree to? That baseline informs how every project is managed from first contact to handover.
- Rate and timing checked on assembled pieces before delivery
- Surface finish reviewed against client's stated preference
- Written record of all work performed retained on file

What you will not find in most watch services.
Limited Project Intake
We work with a small number of projects at any time. This is not a capacity constraint — it is a working method. Fewer projects means each one receives the attention it deserves.
No Fixed Component Requirement
Clients bring their own sourced components — we assemble, refine, or install them. We do not require you to purchase from us or follow a pre-set kit configuration.
Surface Finish Knowledge
Knowing where a case should be brushed versus polished, and how different anglages were originally cut, is a knowledge distinction. It produces different results than simply applying a uniform finish across the whole case.
Pre-Consultation Welcome
Clients who are still sourcing components are welcome to consult early. We can advise on compatibility and what to look for, so the project starts with clarity rather than assumption.
Measured by work completed, not claims made.
Watchmaking Foundation Training
Studio lead trained through formal watchmaking education with Swiss movement specialisation.
Watchmakers Community, Malaysia
Active member of the regional hobbyist and professional watchmaking community since 2017.
Consistent Client Referral Rate
A notable share of new clients arrive through personal referral from previous clients — a pattern the studio values over marketing reach.
These advantages only matter once you start a project.
