In their own words.
"I had been sitting on a movement and case I sourced over two years, not sure who to trust with the assembly. Rizwan took time during the consultation to understand exactly what I was going for. The finished piece was everything I hoped — better, honestly, because the dial alignment was more precise than I expected at that scale."
"The case refinishing service was worth every ringgit. I have a Seamaster that belonged to my father and the original case had quite a bit of wear from years of use. The studio restored the brushing on the sides and the mirror polish on the lugs exactly as it would have looked originally. They didn't just make it shiny — they understood the difference."
"I attempted the casing myself and the hand height was off — the seconds hand was touching the crystal. Ebauche Studio corrected it without drama. They also spotted that my stem was slightly undersized for the crown and flagged it before it became a problem down the line. That kind of attention is what you pay for."
"The communication throughout was genuinely different from other services I've used. Taufik kept me informed at each stage and when there was a delay because the gasket size wasn't ideal, they told me before I needed to ask. Small thing, but it changed how I felt about the whole experience."
"Good experience overall. The assembly took slightly longer than the initial estimate, which was a little frustrating, but they communicated the reason clearly. The finished piece is well put together and keeps excellent time. I would use them again for the next project."
"I was advised by two other watchmakers that the movement I had sourced was not worth working with. Rizwan assessed it properly and found it to be in workable condition with some attention needed to the keyless works. I appreciated the honest second opinion rather than an automatic refusal."
Three projects, in brief.
ETA 2824-based build with a mixed-finish tonneau case
The client had sourced a ETA 2824-2 movement in unserviced condition, a tonneau case from a different supplier, and a dial where the feet spacing was slightly off-standard. Three incompatibilities to navigate before any assembly could begin.
Movement was cleaned and serviced. The dial feet issue was addressed with minor modification to the feet themselves. Case was inspected for movement compatibility, finding the movement ring needed a small shim for stable seating. Each step was documented and shared with the client before proceeding.
Project completed in 10 weeks. Movement regulated to ±8 seconds per day average over a 5-day running period. Client received written handover notes including the shim specification, for future reference if the piece is ever disassembled again.
"I would not have known what to do with the dial feet issue on my own. Having it explained and then solved without drama was the whole point of using a proper studio."
Vintage dress watch case restoration with combination finish
A 1970s dress watch case that had been polished uniformly by a previous watchmaker, removing the original brushed lugs and creating a case that looked wrong for its period. The client wanted the original finish character restored.
Based on reference photos of the reference, the studio mapped the original brushed and polished zones. The lugs were brushed from base to tip with the correct directional grain. The case mid-section was polished. Transition lines were cut manually to restore the original case architecture.
Completed in 4 weeks. The case correctly reflected the period aesthetic of the reference. New gasket seated. Client noted the piece finally looked as it did in reference photos from the original era.
Miyota 9015 casing after failed DIY attempt
Client had attempted self-casing and found the seconds hand was stopping intermittently. On inspection the problem was a combination of over-pressed hour hand and slight crown misalignment, both causing intermittent binding.
Hands were removed and re-pressed at correct depth for the dial thickness. Crown fitment was corrected to appropriate engagement depth. Movement re-seated, checked for positional rate variation across five positions.
Completed in under 2 weeks. No further stopping issues. Rate consistent across positions within expected range for the 9015 calibre. Client noted the crown action was noticeably smoother than before.
